Castle of the Kren Lord is set in a barbarian stronghold hidden within the cliffs of an inaccessible mountaintop. A band of renegade warriors have adopted it as their home using huge birds to access its towering heights. For centuries they terrorized the neighboring lands, demanding tribute, raiding caravans, raping, pillaging, and returning with young women destined to become their chamber slaves. This story begins with the tale of one such woman, a gifted young dancer who is made the prize of the winter games. She captivates the warriors with her dances, but soon signs of her mystical skills become evident. Bizarre occurrences within the castle begin warping space and time, unleashing alien creatures from the caverns below and ushering in an unexpected female warrior who soon disrupts the castle traditions and possibly changes the world forever. This tale mixes science and fantasy, time travel, alien creatures, barbarians, slave girls, wizards, and physics. Follow the adventures of a beautiful young heroine (no two) through unexpected twists and turns in this unusual story
In Journey of the Kren Lord, Mika leads her band of renegade warriors to a new world. A world that at first appears primitive and pristine but scattered about its surface are the technological relics of an advanced civilization – one that appears to have abandoned the planet millennia ago. Because it is an older world than Earth numerous lifeforms have developed intelligence. Among them live the tribes of the Mosii-ni (the lurkers of Kren Castle) and the cat people known as the Taneth. Mika discovers that her time traveling has changed the world in an unexpected way and the twenty-first century is no longer what it used to be. Dr. Caldwell continues to search for a way to return to his family, but Mika must first return the twenty-first century to the one he left behind.
In Legends of the Kren Lord Mika arrives back on Earth and discovers that she, and those with her, are over a thousand miles from Kren Castle. On their way back they must deal with suspicious Celts, overcome alien druids, and battle invading Romans. But things are no better when she arrives. A rebellion has occurred within the castle and a war is waging between the two factions. When she attempts to resolve the conflict, she is taken captive and brutally interrogated. If it were not for the alien dragon and krenium blade she would never have survived.
In Triumph of the Kren Lord, Mika returns to the new world, a planet they named Tera because of its similarity to Earth. Because the portal they used on their first arrival has been destroyed, she and her followers have returned through another gateway halfway around the planet. They are forced to battle alien monsters and survive life-threatening calamities as they make their way back to the warrior’s camp and the Mosii-ni village by the lake. Meanwhile, conflict has broken out among the warriors as they search for a location to recreate the Kren Castle of their old world. The mystery of the ancient civilization that once existed on the planet is finally resolved, but only to the detriment of the small band of warriors trying to make it their home. In the end Mika is forced to choose between fighting for the rights of the ancient aliens or supporting the needs of her human followers.
The Kren Lord Series is a unique blend of fantasy and science fiction. The story begins with the Spirit Dancer, a young woman taken by barbarian warriors to serve as a chamber slave in their harem at Kren Castle, a palace built within the caves of a mountaintop, accessible only by the kren, huge birds the warriors ride as they loot and pillage the surrounding countryside. Bizarre occurrences within the castle begin warping space and time, unleashing alien creatures from the caverns below and ushering in an unexpected female warrior who soon disrupts the castle traditions and possibly changes the world forever.
The first book of this series is based on a role-playing game the author developed when his three sons were teenagers. It was titled “Castle of the Kren Lord,” and they played it for hours on weekends. He and his youngest son, Timothy, had often talked about converting the game into a story or graphic novel, but never did. When Timothy died unexpectedly in 2009, he decided to write a story based on the game and dedicate it to his lost son.
Having discovered the joy of writing I decided to continue the tale and follow the adventures of Mika and her followers as they journeyed into the New World. They named the world Tera because of its earthlike nature. At first the planet appeared primitive and pristine, but the explorers soon found scattered about its surface the technological remains of an advanced civilization – one that had abandoned the planet millennia ago. Because Tera was an older world than Earth, a number of lifeforms had become sentient. These intelligent creatures, both good and bad, along with the unusual flora and fauna of this new world, become the setting for the second book of the series, “Journey of the Kren Lord.”
